Learning Goals

Everyone is different, that's what makes us so unique. Very often we need strategy to help us plan both short term and long term goals, learning a new language is no exception. If we liken learning a language to the context of a Gym full of equipment, you can use all the equipment within an hour or choose to target specific equipment based on your individual needs. Using all the machines is great, you get the benefit of training different muscle groups but you will move between machines obtaining an overall result.
Learning a language has four main elements, reading, writing, speaking and listening. Comparing them to machines in a Gym is probably the best way to explain this concept, if you focus on one element or for the purposes of this example just one machine you become very familiar with the way that it works. You become something of an expert at using it and you will become confident with the results that it produces.
Strategy is the best course of action, so planning both short to long term goals are key. Within your plan you should focus on one of "the machines" this will help you to develop confidence and form a base for your learning needs. Like a Gym you are the person who decides which machine you use and how frequently you use it and that depends on your current circumstances.
The English language has like any language a part to play both socially and within a work environment, if you need to practice within either context you will have to draw a distinction between the two. If you have a work related need the best approach is to create a structure and this guide is shown bellow:

Picture
This is only a guide but gives you an idea as to how we separate objectives. If we take the subject of Clients then this would cover: small talk, numbers, negotiation, breaking down formality and this again would be subject to needs and wants.
Presentations would cover: presentation formats, use of stress points, timing of delivery and the ability to master the subject of comparative and superlative. Every goal must have a measurable time frame or it will never be completed, so it's very good practice to assign a time frame to each block. This technique will also help with setting new objectives as you complete the old ones.

Picture"Find motivation!"
Finding a reason to start is one thing but finding motivation to learn is another. You can have the best teacher in the world but the emphasis is on the student to stick to a discipline and find motivation.
Everyone has a different motivation in life, some are driven only by financial gain whilst others want to have stability and complacency so whether it's changing jobs to gain more money or experience you must learn for the right reason or theres cause to give up.
Our technique is to develop confidence while you talk, correcting grammar, expanding your vocabulary and helping you step by step to identify with the English language.
